Estate Administration
What You Can Expect From Us:
We will have an initial meeting that will last between one and two hours. We will review and explain the terms of the Will, if there is one. We will ask you questions about the decedents family to allow us to develop a family tree. We will ask you questions about the decedents probate assets, non-probate assets, and unpaid bills. We will explain the estate administration process, outline the documents that will need to be prepared and filed, and give you a reasonable estimate as to when the probate process will be completed.
Within forty-eight hours after our initial meeting, we will mail you a detailed engagement letter. The letter will outline everything we had discussed at our initial meeting, and will do so by addressing the specific probate assets and non-probate assets owned by the decedent. The letter will include a list of the follow up action that will be required in order to carry out the estate administration process. The letter will be comprehensive, clearly expressed, easy to follow, and easy to understand.
We will assist you in gathering information concerning the probate and non-probate assets, paying bills that must be paid, and completing insurance and similar forms.
We will prepare all documents that must be filed with the Probate Court, and attend any Probate Court hearings that may require attendance.
We will work with the decedents accountant or an accountant of your choosing for those parts of the estate administration process that require accounting input.
We will keep you informed on a regular basis concerning what we are doing.
We will be diligent about what needs to be done so as to allow the estate administration process to be concluded as quickly as possible.
We will meet with you as often as needed to facilitate a careful and timely conclusion of the estate administration process. You will be encouraged to call us or email us with any questions that arise at any time. When you call, you will not feel like you are annoying us by calling; rather, you will feel welcomed and at ease. We will answer your questions fully and clearly. If we tell you we cannot answer a particular question it is because we need to do some research so as to be sure our answer is correct and complete.
